GRANDMAS NUT ROLL

Ingredients:
– 1 package (0.25 ounces) active dry yeast
– 1/4 cup warm water (110°F)
– 1/2 cup milk
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 2 large eggs
– 3 1/2 – 4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 1/2 cups ground AURORA NATURAL walnuts or pecans
– 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
– 1/4 cup milk
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

**For the Glaze:**
– 1 cup powdered sugar
– 2-3 tablespoons milk
– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

2. In a saucepan, heat the milk until it’s warm. Remove from heat and stir in the melted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs, then stir in the yeast mixture and milk mixture.

4. Gradually stir in enough flour to form a soft dough. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.

5. While the dough is rising, prepare the nut filling. In a small bowl, mix together the ground nuts, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined. Set aside.

6. Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a 12×8-inch rectangle.

7. Spread half of the nut filling evenly over each rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges. Roll up each rectangle tightly, starting from the long side. Pinch the seams and ends to seal.

8. Place the rolls seam side down on greased baking sheets. Cover and let them rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30-45 minutes.

9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the nut rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let them cool on wire racks.

10. Once the rolls have cooled, prepare the glaze by mixing together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled nut rolls.

11. Slice and serve the Nut Roll as a delightful treat!
